About Calculator Place

A growing collection of calculators to help you answer everyday questions — quickly, clearly, and without a login.

Whether you’re weighing a mortgage refinance, mapping out retirement, comparing rent vs. buy, figuring out your take-home pay, or sizing up a health goal, Calculator Place gives you the numbers you need in a few keystrokes. Results are transparent and shareable: every calculator shows its work, lets you export or print the schedule, and produces a link you can copy so you can revisit the same scenario later or send it to someone else.

New calculators are added as we find more questions worth answering. If there’s one you wish were here, let us know — it’s probably already on the list.

Why this site exists

Most calculator sites on the open web have one of three problems. They're plastered with ads to the point you can't tell which box is the answer. They're "free" lead-generation funnels for a broker or insurance company. Or they treat the math as a magic black box and just spit out a number with no way to see how it got there.

Calculator Place is the version we wanted for ourselves: every calculator shows its work, every output is exportable or permalinkable, and every page is built to load in well under a second on a slow phone. Ads support the site, but they're placed where they don't crowd the calculator itself, and informational pages like this one are ad-free.

How the calculators are built

Each calculator starts from a published formula — Mifflin–St Jeor for BMR, the standard amortization equation for mortgages, the Karvonen method for target heart rate, and so on. We test each implementation against known reference values from textbooks, regulator publications, or the original research papers the formula came from.

Where there's genuine disagreement in the field (which is more common than people realize — there are six accepted body fat formulas alone), we pick a default that's well-cited and explain the alternatives in the page or the matching guide.

For fee calculators (eBay, Etsy, Stripe, Square, etc.), the rate schedules are pulled from the platforms' own published policies and updated when they change. We don't get insider rates; we track the same documents anyone else can read.

Privacy and data

Nothing you type into a calculator is stored on our server. There are no accounts, no logins, and no user profiles. The values you enter are processed in your browser or sent once to compute a result — they're not retained. Cookie use is minimal and first-party only (theme, language, security token). Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Languages

The site is currently available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. The translations are professionally reviewed and updated alongside new English content, but if you spot an error a native speaker would catch, we'd love to hear about it.

Accessibility

Calculator Place targets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility. Every form has labeled inputs, every button is keyboard-reachable, contrast meets minimum ratios in both light and dark themes, and pages still render and function with JavaScript disabled. If you find something that breaks for you with a screen reader, on keyboard navigation, or at high zoom, please tell us.

What we're not

We're not a financial advisory firm. We're not a tax preparer. We're not a medical service. The calculators are educational tools — they make the underlying math transparent and easy to use, but the result a calculator gives you is a starting point, not a professional recommendation. For decisions that materially affect your life, please talk to a licensed professional in your country and field.

Roadmap

We add new calculators and guides based on what people ask for. On the current shortlist:

  • Investment property cash flow calculator (cap rate, cash-on-cash, DSCR).
  • HSA / FSA contribution and tax savings calculator.
  • RMD (required minimum distribution) calculator.
  • Macro split calculator with goal-aware presets.
  • Sleep debt calculator.
  • More seller fee tools (Amazon FBA, Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop).

If you're missing something we don't have, the contact page is the right place to ask.
